L’OM. 110 Years. 110 Photographs. 11 Marseilles’ Artists play extra time

The celebrate the 110 years anniversary of the football club Olympique de Marseille, the Foundation Regards de Provence reveals 110 photographs of the major moments of the club’s history since its creation and honors the work of a team of 11 Marseilles‘ artists on the theme of the football and the OM. The exhibition, "L’OM. 110 Years. 110 Photographs. 11 Marseilles Artists play extra time”, issued in part from the "Giant Book of the 110 years”, is presented until May 9th 2010, in the exhibition rooms of the Palais des Arts, cours Julien, in Marseilles.

Sports emblem of the city of Marseille, but also of French football, the Olympique de Marseille is a club apart by his record, by its media dimension and its popularity. Its history is part of the heritage of Marseilles and the Foundation Regards de Provence, whose mission is to promote culture in Marseille, Provence and the Mediterranean, has chosen to celebrate over a century of stories of one the most famous sports clubs in the world.

The 11 artists from Marseilles - Jean-Baptiste Audat Bernard Briançon, Frederic Claverie, Luc Dubost, Bruno Guitard, George Guye, Piotr Klemensiewicz Patrick Moquet, Stephan Muntaner, Jean-Michel Zevort and Jacques Surian - have created a special piece of art in honor of OM’s anniversary.

This exhibition of photographs restores memorable moments and emotions remained intact in the heart of fans, honors players who have made the legend and personalities who have raised the club. It displays important places and rare objects. It allows admiring trophies, historical newspapers and magazines Front-pages…

In 1899, the OM is a sports club where football is far from being the most popular sport. Over the years, the OM is needed in the region, uniting around its route, more and more Marseilles. The national dimension gained with the French Cups and other results will lead OM to become a symbol of the identity of Marseille ... a true "legend".
